Car help, expert scrapper needed

So my car (both actually) have both completely totaled them selves out in mileage and are not worth fixing anymore.

One car is a 99 olds cutlass that needs a motor, the dealership quoted $1000 to make it drive able. I can get a car for that cheap and drive it right away so I'm selling it if I can.

If nobody wants it as is then ill part it out if I can. Does anybody think it is worth parting out the good parts or just scrapping it for $350 as is? Other than the motor its in great shape :/


The next car is an 02 Honda civic hybrid that was quoted 8 grand to fix.
Here is the vague list of its problems. With new tires its drive able, but not very far. The struts are shot, this grinds the tires awkwardly balding them.

Same question with this car only I'm going to sell it for more than the cutlass because it can get you to the grocery store.

I think I would sure check into selling it as scrap metal. You may be surprised at how much scrap metal sells for.

I don't know what scrap is were you are but here in NY I pay 175.00 a metric ton (2200lbs) It goes by the weight on the title and the cats worth 100 to 300 depending on what kind it is

Ok, I was offered $350 cash for the non starting cutlass so I'm thinking it may be a little higher than that here if I'm getting offered that.

Took a wall today to browse for a new car, one that's more aquarium sized than a tiny car for all the fish tanks I missed out on Craigslist because of pickup only bwaaahahahahahahaha

If you are still listening I have another question about a different vehicle lol.

2000 jeep Cherokee. We added a lift kit and got all the stock parts handed back to us in a box. They probably have about 3000 miles on them and have been in a box since we got the lift kit done.

I am beyond clueless as to what any of it is called since I'm not a mechanic by any means lol.

So my question is what would you call these boxes of stuff!? It seems to be the entire stock suspension. I would like to sell it as one bundle...I just don't know what to tell people haha.

And a bonus question would be a guesstimation of the value?

Stock jeep parts are a dime a dozen. You probably have the rear leaf springs, front coils, shocks and some other random parts. Maybe some track bars and what not. You might be able to get $100 or so out of it. Just call it stock suspension parts. The Honda honestly doesn't look like too bad. Most of that stuff is easy to fix.

A honda that age should be very easy to fix. It may take some DIY or asking around for a good, cheap mechanic that can just do it out of his/her garage. But all those things should be cheaper to do other ways. You may need to find the parts yourself, since honda kinda likes to buy up all their used parts whenever possible and it may take a while and all of that doesnt have to be done immediately. Make friends with a mechanic. My boyfriend's boss lets him do stuff for his friends and family at cost on the off time and doesnt take a penny... just for the parts but doesnt care if we get the parts used. You may risk more money on getting another used car where you DONT know the problems.. make sense? I'll get my boyfriend on here tonight to give you links and stuff if you want.

Honestly I don't have the patience to keep up with these things or time to wait for repairs or money to waste renting something in the mean time. I have reef tanks in case you forgot where we Are bwaaahahahahahahaha.

Either way. I sold the Honda this morning and the cutlass is going to be gone in about 40 minutes.

The new car is from a dealer that I am friends with and offered me a job after he saw me sell the cars for more than he could have. Haha.

For $5000 I am getting a mint condition Grand Prix from 04. That is less than the cost to fix the Honda and cutlass long term and the payments are so small I am barely buying it lol.

Thanks for the jeep parts help! Every penny counts. Trying to pay as much as I can from literally all my junk. I've been craigslisting like mad! So far in cash this week I've raised 1500 cash to go towards the car so I'm really happy with my choice.

There's another thread expressing my excitement though.

I would throw the Honda on Craigslist for 2000 Obo and see what you can get. People will buy it to do there own thing with And get a lot more than scrap. Here where I'm a scrap cars are weighed and not paid by title weight. There for we fill them up with as much other scrap metal as possible.
