The sad (but curious) outcome:

The two polyps were continually attacked, night after night, until they were pretty much completely gone. Yet still, though I check often during the day and night, not a single star has touched the remaining polyp:

(sorry for odd angle, shows underside of polyp)

A mystery to me...

I think Asterina is overused because there are obviously different starfish, some that eat coral. I've slowly began to notice that the Asterina like starfish that seem to be eating some zoas are almost always perfect, all legs the same size, and they have a nice pattern on them. Mine tend to be slightly purpleish with grey markings. All the other small Asterinas I have are almost never perfect, sometimes just a leg moving around, and no obvious patterns. :)

I had millions of them and caught them eating my zoas also. I got a harlequin shrimp and he had a field day on the stars!!!! Now I only see a couple once in a while if that
