How do you get to the spot where you can see the ports?

  1. Click the Apex menu
  2. Click the Modules icon
  3. Find your FMM module in the list and click it
  4. Select Configure from the Action dropdown list

Update:

I spoke with an Apex support engineer today. He described the FMM auto detect feature in a bit more detail and explained why they recommend using auto detect: If an optical sensor fails but it's not set for auto detect, the readings from the faulty sensor could cause harm to the tank and you wouldn't know the sensor is faulty. If auto detect is on, the sensor would be disabled and not report faulty data.

Now that the update seems to be running stable on my FMM modules, I'm going to give auto detect another chance to see how it works for me. If it does work as advertised, that would be another layer of protection I didn't have when manually setting sensor types.

I'll stick with manual settings. I have safeguards in place to deal with failed OSes.

The cautions against updating over WiFi apply only to the old Apex Classic series, not to the newer Apex and Apex EL. The AOS update released yesterday is for those two newer Apex models.

Where do I find the update link?

Expand the tools bar and select network. Update AOS is there.

Mine did a surprise auto update. Didn’t have any trouble with the 3 optical sensors on my FMM in ports 1,2 &4. All recognized. The one great thing it did was allow my alkalinity test to register the first time I enter it and show a nice graph, not just a bunch of dots in mid air. While everything was updated I took the time to update all the modules I have as well.
