Ceramic parts in MP40

Has anyone ever sourced the ceramic shaft and washer for the MP40?. I'll keep searching. I did see the post that uses heat shrink which I may end but trying. However, it would be good to know the sizes of those two ceramic pieces. I don't think I have the right measuring ruler for the shaft especially.

Can't seem to see where you're based. In the UK I can get them through the distributor (Xodis).

I'd you're based in America, try out BRS.

I too would be interested if someone had a source for ceramic tubes.

It’s really a shame that Ecotech doesn’t sell every part for it, but they don’t. I would also be interested in an after market source for the ceramic parts.
The closest I’ve ever seen is the frame from Ecotech.

I just bought the item you listed Gtinnel. Worked great but at the end of the day after shipping and tax it was close to $50.00. Better then a new wet side but way more then the part would be (more then likely).

I found a clear plastic ruler and this is what I got
1 15/16" long
1/4" od
1/8" id

Are you saying xodis sells just the ceramic tube? Do you have a kink?

When you get it, I'd be curious if the surface finish is just as smooth at the etm one?

Hacksaw, I doubt it. But you might be able to cut it with an abrasive cutoff wheel on a Dremel.

The question about finish is a good one. If the finish and size are not VERY close to the original it may not work, or not for long, and you run the risk damaging the mating parts.

I agree, a diamond plated wetsaw would be the best to provide a clean cut. If you have access to a wetsaw for cutting corals then you'd be in business.

Otherwise anything that can cut tile floor (maybe a friend or neighbor has one) will work.

Here's the measurements in metric:

And here it is in inches:

That OD is 1/128" of an inch smaller than 1/4".

I'm eager to know your results.

Looking at the specs of the part on McMaster, the OD is 0.25 +/- 0.007 which 31/128 is at the low end of that tolerance range.

It's coming in tonight, we'll see how it goes. First and foremost, will it be the smooth finish that the original part is.

I received the tube a while ago and it's a bust.
The id is fine and will fit the stainless shaft without any more play then the original.
The od on the other hand is a bit too big to fit into the propeller. Probably by the 1/128th that Sisterlemonpot measured.

As for the finish on it, it is not super smooth like the glass finish that the original has. It is not rough at all but has more of a matte finish.

How fragile is the ceramic tube? I wonder if it could be sanded down a tiny bit which would reduce the OD and make it smoother.

I think the tricky part is going to be sanding it down uniformly.

I would probably try to find some way to chuck it into a drill without breaking it so I could rotate it and use a sanding block. It seems like that would keep it at least mostly uniform.

Sand paper won't do much, it'll have to be some sort of wet grinder or polisher. Diamond coated preferred.
