So I've had what I assumed was chaeto growing out of a few spots in a couple rocks I purchased from the LFS when I first started the tank up in June 2015. Been doing some reading and most sources say that chaeto is free growing and doesn't grow in/on rocks. So now I'm doubting my original conclusion.

It's green and shiny like pictures I've seen of chaeto but if it is something else I'd like to know if it could be a major nuisance or if it's still something beneficial. It has grown pretty slowly but the tank only had some cheap strip led's (was fish only to start) until recently and it seems to be growing a little more heartily. Any input would be great.
