I get the impression that a good number of folks have Chaeto in their refugium. I got a clump of Red Gracilaria locally a month back and it seems to be doing well. I'm curious on the differences and pro/cons of either macro.

If anyone can ID it, out of curiosity.

I also have some of it in my DT that came with a LR.

Chaeto grows much faster therefore it’s believed to take up more nutrients, Gracilaria is slower growing but has the benefit of being able to feed it back to your tank if you have Tangs, Angels, etc. Personally I like both for these reasons.

I have multiple types and like the variety in my DT and fuge. ReefCleaners has several pictures that you can use to try and help ID yours.
