Nice i just started a all Chalice and Acan tank and your right it seems most people place all there chalice on the sandbed

Well I think allot of people do that and put way to many on the sandbed and I hate the look of the sandbed littered with frags or corals.

How come some people can keep chalice in high light, out in the open? I have to keep mine shaded. I try to move them out but they don't like it and quickly recede.

I am running 12- 3 watt Royal Blue LEDS 8 hours a day and they get some 20k metal halids from the frag system next to the tank i am waiting on my 460nm bulbs to come in so i can replace all the white Leds that i am not using right now i might keep 3 whites and replace 9 with 460 nm bulbs when they get here i will see. And some of my chalice i keep under 400 watt 20k and they do great.

I would say it depends on the chalice type. I have a pink chalice less than a foot below a 250W MH and it is growing like a weed. I also have a red and orange chalice and they both thrive in high light, but are placed lower in the tank.

Nice collection you have going there H2Oceans. Looking forward to seeing a FTS but I think you have the right idea from the look of your third picture. I agree with shred5; littered sandbeds aren't attractive IMO so I wanted to see ideas on how to work around this.
