Personally not a big fan of them, I truly enjoy their gorgeous colors and have kept many over the years, but I prefer more movement out of corals... moot point.
Over time we've seen absolutely crazy prices (IMHO) for various corals, and fish alike, yet sometimes they seem knee-jerkingly unjustifiable based on their availablility in the wild. If we're talking a Joculator angelfish which is only from one tiny area in the wild, or a deepwater coral such as Archohelia rediviva I can see where the higher prices come from, but something so common as a nice specimen of Echinophyllia warrants the highest prices in the hobby these days.
There is a guy that lives in the Phillipines that posted his build thread on another site and I noted that he had very larger gorgeous colonies of Echinophyllia that looked very similar to the "popular named" one's we see for sale here. He bought them for roughly $1 US dollar per colony:
