Actually, the original colony came from Clint at diamonds in the reef. That guy you mentioned Mike or Megret is making a killing b/c that colony was 300 when it sold on Clint's site.

That's right. I remember reading that somewhere. Looks like he made a good buy. :)

i have never seen a favia of any kind with space between the corallites like that, but the second pic does make it look like a favia in terms of texture
i voted chalice but i dont think its either chalice nor favia

I'm almost positive that the picture he is using for the colony shot in the auction is DITR's picture.

Wait you bought a frag and it didn't survive shipping, the guy should of at least got you another frag or worked something out.

the seller was very nice and I have credit with them to use when I want. I Think I am going to wait for another frag to become available.

My guess is Montastrea which I did not see on the poll list. So no vote here!
I would bet big money that is not a chalice. Unless of course brain corals fall into the chalice class.

Can't really tell from this pic, but from the top there is major spacing bw corallites.

Shot from above...

Looking at this pic, the polyps do look to be spaced out a bit from each other, but maybe not. If you look closely it seems the edges of the polyps meet.

I dont know what kind of lighting you guys are taking your pictures under but here is mine under t5s. Growing like a weed but not blown away by the coloring.
