Changing leds

When you change out leds do you have to use thermal paste?

When I made my refugium light I used the stickie pads. Works good. I researched it and found either is fine

You must use thermal paste, pads will not work on the single diodes. The thermal paste is necessary to properly move the heat to the board, then the aluminum plate, and then into the air.
