What's up R2R friends! I am about to move to a new place soon, and I have been thinking about changing one of the big rocks that currently have a cluster of zoanthids growing on it. Will trading out about 0.5-1lb of live rock affect my levels of bacteria to unsafe levels or will I be okay and can replace it with a completely blank rock in order to create a more aesthetic aquascape? I have even thought about looking into replacing the live rock with some damp rocks, again all to increase the aesthetics of the aqua scape.

It'd be great to get everyone's insight.

Unless it's a pico tank you should be fine (and even then you'd probably still be fine). When I upgraded from a pair of 50 gallons to a 200 gallon system probably 65% of the rock I added was new dry rock. As long as you have existing rock to cultivate the new additions you're good to go.
