What’s in Chemi pure blue? Will it reduce Nitrate and Phos? Anyone using it and share their experience?

Thanks!

I use it for nitrate reduction. If I need phosphate reduction I run chemipure elite. If I need both reduced I’ll run both at the same time. It’s good stuff. It’s mainly just carbon & a purigen type pellet.

FWIW, none of these Chemipure materials actually bind substantial nitrate from seawater. They can bind organics which may (over time) lower nitrate by removing the organics before they break down.

That’s true, what do you recommend for nitrate control if you are already implementing other forms such as growing & harvesting macro algae as well as carbon dosing?

Chemipure Blue does in fact reduce phosphates more aggressively than Chemipure Elite. It is carbon which will remove discolouration smells cloudiness medications etc as you would expect, a pelletised phosphate remover and a resin that binds organics before the can be taken into the nitrogen cycle as your skimmer does do indirectly reduces nitrates .
