Chillers (Is there something wrong with mine?)

My Tank info
90g
20g in sump
10g in fuge
2 x 250 MH
2 VHO

So, Mine came in yesterda. its hooked up and its kinda keeping the tank cooler than without the chiller. Its a 1/5th hourse. Its rated for a tank size between 75 and 120 gallons.

Its been running for 2 hours since I got home and it has not dropped the temp 1 degree. Its is keeping it from reaching its normal high. My lights come on at noon and the temp gets up to 81 or 82 degrees normally with only the cooling fans i have blowing in the hood. Ive unplugged both heaters so they are not countering the affects of the chiller.

Id like to get your thoughts on this. Could there possibly be a problem with the ciller.
 
what are you using to monitor temp and is it correct? could be a few things to much flow, inaccurate temp reading, not big enough. Is the chiller under the stand? could be heat off the chiller keeping temp up.
 
IME 1/5 isn't enough for 100+ gal by itself, try a small fan for some evaporative cooling, I have 2-- 5" dimeter fans and my chiller never really comes on.
(but then I also live in a pretty dry climate)
 
The chiller is a Aqua Logic Delta Star Chiller 1/5 HP, DS-2
The controller is a Aqua Logic Digital Temperature Controller - Single Stage

The flow rating of the chiller is 6|12 GPM
Return pump (Via Aqua 3600) is rated at 1057 GPH which would equate to ~17.5 GPM ( I think) so with 4 ft of head that brings it down to ~ 600GPH or 10 GPM (right?)

It is sitting next to the tank, there are no obstructions and its is getting un obstructed airflow. Its not contributing to the heat in the tank.

Im using Unions and Barbs to connect it all together.
 
If I calculate the GPM with the estimated lead loss @ 3 feet I am over the flow rate at an estimated 13.5 GPM. Either way with 3 of 4 ft of HL I am at the upper limits of the chiller. I’m going to try and slow down the flow by putting a ball valve in line and see if that helps.
