After being out of the hobby for 5 yrs I'm going to be starting another tank in a few months. I currently live Arizona where temps rise here to 100+ degrees in the summer. Thinking about the temp not only of the tank but top off water im going to need some way of cooling the water and keeping the temp at thebright level. I have never ran a chiller before and I would like to hear some of your experiences with them and maybe hear some other alternatives I could use to cool the tank. How safe are they? I know I can run the AC but in Arizona if you run your AC to keep your house 73 in the summer you could have a $700 electric bill.
