I just bought a 92 corner bow and unfortunately while carrying it in the house I hit a corner and put a nice chip and a small crack in the back top corner behind the overflow. I have talked to my lfs and he said because it is behind the overflow and it is small I can patch it with a pane of glass 3" bigger than the chipped area. Does anyone have experience with this?

+1 It's not a small tank even if near the overflow just not a risk I would take either. You'll be spending quite a bit more money and I can't imagine seeing it all over the floor

Sounds like the patch is a bad idea....anyone have experience replacing glass? Not sure if it would be worth the price but I love the 92 and no one makes it anymore!

Tough loss but the pressure on that panel runs the length of it just because it's behind the overflow doesn't mean you can patch with a small piece and not have a blow out 12 months from now.

Google aquarium glass builds and checkout King of DIY on YouTube he has a bunch of build videos. Take your time and do it right on the repair.

I've done a patch that is about 12" square. Spread the silicone over the surface and apply the glass patch.

So I drove 3 hours today to pickup the replacement tank and he failed to tell me that it also had a nice chip on the front corner....I think I finally found relief a local tank maintenance company has one brand new in his shop...trying to pick that one up tomorrow
