So I drove 3 hours today to pickup the replacement tank and he failed to tell me that it also had a nice chip on the front corner....I think I finally found relief a local tank maintenance company has one brand new in his shop...trying to pick that one up tomorrow
I am melting glass as a hobby. With changing temps and pressure a crack could develop weeks later. With a new tank you have a warranty.
Good luck.

Like Dracokat said the tank could be used as a reptile tank. Put it back on Craigslist and see if you can't get a few bucks for it as a reptile tank.

This can be patched. I have done this on several tanks for people. the process is pretty exact in execution and materials. I would not recommend it be done by someone who is not a professional, however. do you have a local glass aquarium builder in your area?

I do but they all said they would not do it because of liability.
