Choosing a sump

Hi. I’m new to this great community of reefers. I have a Glass Cages 150 ordered that should arrive in a month or so and I’m beginning to explore/gather materials. I am stumped on what roller sump to purchase. I have looked at Trigger, Bashsea, Fiji, and Luna. I intend to go 40-48”. Any suggestions? Thank you.

I have an acrylic box essentially with cutouts for the pipes that dump water into the sump and sheets to divide parts of the sump. Guy who had the tank before me made the sump himself.

Reason Im mentioning it is because you dont have to spend a ton of money on a sump, you can turn an used tank into one if uou wanted

Yeah, I bought a baffle kit and did that previously. I ended up running out of room and buying a Bashsea. I’m not repurposing anything from the old setup except the DT contents. New tank, new stuff. Just looking for opinions on a brand reefers like.

I just worked on a Fiji 36g last week! Interesting design, some faults!

— adjustable weir height means water channels around the weir substantially during operation!

— associated hardware for ATO sensor holder was factory cut too short to even work; made a custom bracket from 1/8” polycarbonate to use the factory hardware…

— No good space to attach fuge light with the thin eurobraced top

— Clear lids are finicky to get fitted; most parts are CNC routed, but their stand-off height for cutting is too high, leaving substantial acrylic flashing on parts for me to manually de-bur…

— SHARP edges on all routed parts; no edge finishing.

All in all; a pretty good design (particularly the filter floss holder), with corners cut for price reasons!

Ah makes sense! Thought I would throw that out there. The price always gets me on sumps

I just built a sump for my new 150 out of a 75G and a baffle kit from eBay.

It worked perfectly so far.

Well, l went with the Luna 4418 roller sump. It’s pretty awesome. Looks great sitting in the spare bedroom wile I wait for my dt.
