Wow, it's been about a month since I updated this thread.. The last trade didn't go through. Turned out the guy was trying to pass of wild echinata's as the real deal, so fortunately a bunch of our reefer friends were watching our back.
We've been fragging and selling a bunch of our sps and revamping the clutter in the tank:) Sold a few colonies too to make room for some other pieces that we picked up in the last few weeks. We picked up a frag of ORA Blue Milli, Ultimates Purple Monster, ATL Cherry Blossom, ATL Raspberry Lemonade, Rommels Rainbow Milli, Bubblegum Milli, Red Robin, $500 Efflo, and a nice maricultured neon green acro. All of the frags are just sitting on our rack, until we get back from vacation. Christian got me a Apex Controller with WXM and Breakout box for Father's Day, so hopefully we could get the tank fully automated. Grandma and Grandpa helped him with that present:) Hopefully, with the Apex controller I could teach him about software systems and how to read the numbers and parameters. Not sure if he's really ready for graphs and spreadsheets yet..lol The dosing pumps are working great and seems we're having to adjust upwards about 2ml of the 2-parts every week to keep up with tank consumption. We're noticing awesome growth, since the Alk has stablized and definitely improved color.
We have been losing some color in our chalices and a few were bleaching on the tops, so I changed the bulb to a 20k Ushio from the 14k Phoenix 250 watt we were using. I think they were getting too much light in our tank.
Christian's turning 4 next week, which will make this our 3rd year in the hobby. We're heading to the Caribbean on a family reunion cruise this weekend, so we'll be able to checkout some of the corals and fish in their natural habitat. Both boys are excited and have been taking swim lessons and have their masks and life jackets, so we could get them into the lagoons and tidepools:) I'd have to say that this is an awesome hobby for the little ones. I still need to get updated pics of the tank and I'll try to post some pics of our vacation.
Christian still loves hearing the responses, but Dad hasn't been keeping things up to date:) I'm finally done with all of my financial advising exams, so now I could finally get my act back together..lol
