What is your favorite thing about Christmas and what are you most looking forward to this Holiday season?

I love the hustle and bustle, the Lights at night, the changing moods of the public and the joy with company that I spend time with

I love all the events during Christmas: people decorating their houses for the seasons, the joy of being with family, and the overall sense of peace it brings to our household. Christmas season is my favorite season of the year.

I can't improve on Dickens. His writing sums up my feeling pretty well:

"I have always thought of Christmas time as a good time; a kind, forgiving, charitable, pleasant time when men and women seem by one consent to open their shut-up hearts freely, and to think of people below them as if they really were fellow-passengers to the grave, and not another race of creatures bound on other journeys."

While the language of the era needs a bit of translating for today, I've observed that people in my little corner of the world do seem to slow down and take time to be a bit more kind to each other.

I have many favorite things about Christmas, but my favorite is driving around our local communities and looking at Christmas lights or watching my friends and family open their gifts. As I get older, I find it more true every year that giving really is better than receiving.

For me it's spending more time with my kids. Watching their faces when they see what Santa brought is priceless.

No kidding! We do a Christmas eve get-together that's a bunch of finger foods and snacks. My wife (@AlyciaMarie) makes a killer spinach artichoke dip.

I’m 53 years old but my kids are a 13 year old girl and a 10 year old boy. At my age it’s more about them and seeing the joy and happiness in their faces during this time of the year. That and being able to take time off from my current job as a maintenance electrician which I’ve held for the past 12 years. Oh, and also the longevity and Xmas bonuses that I receive from my employer every December. It definitely helps my family and I a lot during the holidays.

All of the food of course!!! And holiday parties! Had the Geological Society of Nevada Christmas party and silent auction last night. I’m walked away with a 3 liter bottle of La Mascota Cabernet Sauvignon from the raffle. Great to see everyone at that party. And there are more coming!

My favorite bit is being able to cook meals I otherwise wouldn't make an excuse to cook, and spending time with family. We all live within an hour of each other, but due to work schedules everyone getting together proves more and more challenging. The holidays are always a great excuse to get everyone in the same room together.
