Two handsome new maxima clams I pre-ordered from umicorals in the UK who sourced from TMC.
This addiction is becoming expensive.
Thank the lord I DIY my two part! :rolling-on-the-floor-laughing:

Beautiful clams! Did you set the clam in the middle of that coral? It looks really cool! Just wasn’t sure if it could cause irritation or either coral or clam. Only ever had zoas on my clams

Due to space constraints I have two maxima mounted on a frag rack on small pieces of liverock which have attached well, sadly no room for this one so attempting it on the big seasons greetings monti to see what happens.
I've seen posts of it working previously but still sceptical so monitoring closely.

Well running out of room isn’t the worst problem to have! Definitely keep us updated would love to hear if it works out!
Have you thought about “clearing” (bit of kalk paste) a spot in the monti before placing clam?

I've got far too many clams & sps in the system now.
Alk consumption is comical!
It's really become just a grow out tank for a new larger nyos setup which will be in spring.
I may just mount this one on some liverock and pop that in centre as it's a very resilient coral that just grows.

Sounds like an epic system! What are using for supplementation?
Hadn’t though of that but probably a good call just mounting on a rock and then placing it in the coral

Sodium hydroxide, DIY calcium & kalkwasser.
Zeovit system so dosing the basic 4 daily & some aminos/CV twice a week

Added maxima to a small chunk of liverock and he attached within the hour.
Same procedure for my derasa who frustratingly was being picked at by my CBB after several months of being ignored.
That one had some valonia on shell so a quick toothbrush clean & freshwater dip it's now fully extending its mantle with no signs of damage thankfully.

The long term plan for next tank will be to utilise some of the arka raised platforms to place the clams permanently in the upper level in high par & out of the way of the cbb
