I was wondering how many clams could I have in a 90 gallon bowfront? are they like fish where you can only have a certain amount per gallon or could you have as many as you can afford? if you have alot of clams in one tank could you post it would love to see that.

Depends how much you want to spend on calcium. I don't think they are like fish at all but I am not completely sure on that. But make sure you keep up with that calcium. I think they eat it up faster then spa does.

Roger....

I have 8...no 10.

5"....3 3"....and the rest 1 to 2" ers

I have them on my live rock and big one in sand bed.

All different kinds VERY colorful..easy, no issues to deal with.

+1 to what the above poster said about cal/alk. IIRC clams actually help remove or consume nitrates so as long as you have the space and the extra 2 part add away.

As long as you can keep up with the Cal and Alk demands you can keep as many as you want. I had 34 in a 120g at once a few years ago.

That must have looked insaine. I have to ask which one was your favorite? The center black one you have in the pic above looks nice. Maybe I will change my plan from 1 to many.

i was wondering how offend do you have to dose cal? i have been wanting to keep a clam but my cal is low and i am afraid im gonna kill it

We have had 100 2-2.5" Croceas in a 120 gallon system for over 6 months and they are growing like crazy! When you put that many in there you have to make sure you keep up with your params because they are calcium suckers! our params got messed up once they started taking off, needless to say went from 2 part doing to a calcium reactor!

I have had lots of favorites but the three in my pic are probably the top three favorites.

At this time I don't dose much Cal at all, I do top up with Kalkwasser every day though.

I would love to see some pic's!!!!

that is awesome so you can have the bottom of the tank pretty much clammed out with all those beautiful colors and they help clean the tank and on the rocks keep the corals sounds like a plan but do all clams get along or are they like fish and corals will they fight ?

Just keep in mind that the more clams you have the more you will be chasing params around as they suck up the cal and alk..

Once clams get settled in they just sit there and soak up the light. They are not aggressive at all in any way.
