I have a clark clown breeding pair and they are laying eggs and im thinking about moving them to their own tank and seeing if i cant raise some babies, any one got any advice on how to set up a good little tank for this to work? what do i need in the tank and what kind temp and water levels do i want

I haven't ever bread Clowns before, I am very interested in doing so though.

Free bump and maybe someone who has will chime in!

From what I've read, you'll need a smaller tank to keep the fry in. You'll want to use the same water and keep the water about the same temp as what you pulled them out of.

my clowns spawn all the time but raising the fry, well thats a whole different ball game
any tank will work for the clowns that has an easy to remove scape so you can take out the eggs. i've seen tiles, small rocks and even coffee cups used
you'll need a tank for the eggs to hatch and the babies to grow
you'll need another container (tank) for green water and another to grow rotifers
quite the operation to get started

Yeah, I've heard its not easy to get started, but well worth it in the end. I really want to be able to breed some fish one day.

get joyce wilkerson's book . it has everything you need to know . but now they have instant algae for roty's instead of growing phyto . good luck with them

I would not be much help with this but there is a clown goru on here im sure he will chimm in any time.

Ok,Ive sen the post now,Ive not seen this yet,so be pacient with me...Ive been really busy today!

What are you wanting to know exactly? There is was way to much for me to really type on this subject.I can give you some pointers on where to go to get good info, but ther is alot you have to know, just let me know what you need to know, and Ill be glad to help!

Ive heard joyce's book is pretty good. I got into it but i eventually stopped it was a little to much work and my frag tank was a little better than tryint to breed fish. I know your supposed to feed them like crazy a friend of mine is doing it his success rate is garbage but hes still trying to get the ropes. I know his temps are like 80 degrees his water quality is great. he has them laying eggs like crazy hes just having problems getting the fry past day 6 i believe.
