Cleaner Shrimp & Anemone

My cleaner shrimp steals my BTA's food when I feed him. He literally walks over and takes it. Anyone else have a problem with their cleaner shrimp stealing from their anemone? The cleaner shrimp has taken up residence on the rock above the anemone. He's always roaming around the anemone. AND my two clowns act like they could care less it's there. The Bangii Cardinals will swim over and stare at it (yes they swim up and stay there looking at it lol). Any thoughts on how to keep the shrimp away? I tried feeding him first, he's a pig. :rolleyes: just a thought, will the BTA eat him? ;Nailbiting

I have the same problem, the only way I can ever successfully feed my anemones is by watching and using a long coral feeder to scare the shrimp away, Or feed the shrimp at the same time. Even when the anemone is almost done swallowing the shrimp will dig it right out the mouth :/ following this post to see if other people have better solutions

You can feed a chunk of food to the shrimp while you feed the nems

Exactly, he can be eating and will go take the anemone food. o_O

James M I do feed him, maybe I should give him a bigger chunk of food.

Same issue and now my nem is deflating because of it

I have the same issue. And this is what I’ve been doing. Feed using some kind of tongs and only feed small pieces. Stay there with the tongs and keep the shrimp away. Feeding a small piece will give the nem time to swallow and then the shrimp can’t get it after the nem close it’s mouth. Good luck.
