Cleaning a new tank

I just got a new tank and it was dirty because Petco can't store tanks decently at all so I was looking at how to clean the tank. I saw on here that people were saying vinegar and water so we used tap water "I won't have RO water till Monday" and white vinegar. We used paper towels to wipe out what we could and let the rest air dry overnight. Now I'm worried I ruined my tank before setting it up. If I did do something wrong what can I do to fix it thank you!

Why do you think you ruined it? I see no issue with what you did you are fine.

I thought you weren't supposed to use tap water for anything?

There are different degrees of dirty, if you just want to clean out the dirty petco dust and germs, then you did the right thing.

no you are fine. You dont want to use tap for mixing saltwater or top off water. Its fine for cleaning stuff prior to use. Also leak test the tank before you get it all set up.
