Cleaning Barrel that held soap?

Hello all,

I purchased 2x 15g Barrels prior to researching and I probably jumped the gun.
These things were used to hold heavy soaps for restaurants/businesses.

I've done a vinegar/baking soda soak and a bleach soak(1 teaspoon per gallon). I still am able to smell the odor of the soap.

Any suggestions?

The odor is probably an essential oil, or something like it.....not sure what it'll take.


Try some dry washing soda if you can get/make some. (Not sure it's worth making.)
