Alright, so my tank has been up and running for about 5 months now. Everything going great. 29g cube with about 35 lbs of live rock.
I try to use the magnet cleaner about every other day to go over the glass. My problem is I have some rock that is too close to the glass for the magnet to get in between. What can I do to clean this area of the glass? Also, the magnet doesn't get the curved edges too well, what can I use for this? This was an inherited tank, and I still haven't decided if it's glass or acrylic. I use a razor blade to clean some of the purple build up on the glass. If it were acrylic would that alone scratch? Or only when you go side to side with the razor? There are some light scratches on the front glass, but they were there when I acquired it. It certainly "feels" like glass. Maybe some new members of my CUC?
Right now the inhabitants are:
5 snails (3 astrea, 2 can't remember)
4 hermit crabs
2 emerald crabs
1 cleaner shrimp (brand new)
Few brittle stars that came in live rock
2 clown fish
1 firefish
Also, the sand bed gets pretty dirty. Like two days and it's back to purplish. I mix it up every other day to get a fresh top layer. Is this all I need to do? Will it eventually get too saturated to be able to just mix it up?
Thanks for any help!
