This is going to sound silly. I thought my clown in quarantine was swallowing air with feeding. The initial concern was they would be excessively bloated/full stomach after hardly eating. Noticeably hardly eating anything between days of feeding pellets, eggs, clam, or mysis. They seem to be eating better now, with bloat, yet they were spitting foods out at first. This one had noticeable ich and thought maybe his loss of appetite was cooper or parasite related. I haven’t tried brine yet as a “home remedy” for constipation or bloating something rather. But I had fed mysis one day, stopped feeding for 24-48 hours and then fed mysis again. My LFS doesn’t have great selection of food and I’m cheap. I already had the mysis, pellets and fish eggs on hand so when the same clown had white stringy poop I got some clams on half shell with gut loaded bacteria to hopefully provide more nutrition. They weren’t too crazy on chopped up clam for some reason.
I will try some brine and see what the results are. I have a pair of clowns in quarantine and I feel really neglectful starving the tank when the other clown is eating fine and skinnier.
Day 0:
Day 1: no feed
Day 2: immediately after feeding
I did make sure to feed below the surface so they couldn’t gulp air.
