This is going to sound silly. I thought my clown in quarantine was swallowing air with feeding. The initial concern was they would be excessively bloated/full stomach after hardly eating. Noticeably hardly eating anything between days of feeding pellets, eggs, clam, or mysis. They seem to be eating better now, with bloat, yet they were spitting foods out at first. This one had noticeable ich and thought maybe his loss of appetite was cooper or parasite related. I haven’t tried brine yet as a “home remedy” for constipation or bloating something rather. But I had fed mysis one day, stopped feeding for 24-48 hours and then fed mysis again. My LFS doesn’t have great selection of food and I’m cheap. I already had the mysis, pellets and fish eggs on hand so when the same clown had white stringy poop I got some clams on half shell with gut loaded bacteria to hopefully provide more nutrition. They weren’t too crazy on chopped up clam for some reason.

I will try some brine and see what the results are. I have a pair of clowns in quarantine and I feel really neglectful starving the tank when the other clown is eating fine and skinnier.

Day 0:

Day 1: no feed

Day 2: immediately after feeding

I did make sure to feed below the surface so they couldn’t gulp air.

These fish are like wind-up toys
Can be genetic, constipation. injury or tumor but my suspicion is fluid buildup which is caused by salinity drop or liver issue often caused by fluid buildup.
What is current salinity?
White feces often caused by mucus in stomach lining and Mysis shrimp would be a contributor. This is not the hobby to be cheap and you want to add to diet.... LRS nano or fish frenzy, plankton and brine shrimp
Something like Seachem Kanaplex may be of help for treatment as its absorbed by the fish

Thanks for the insight. I’ve been trying to find LRS but my LFS doesn’t have any despite the LRS site listing them as a retailer. I have a ton of food so I didn’t want to get more of the same unless it was LRS.

Under copper treatment, doing water changes regularly but I didn’t check since my last change. I’ll check last night and revisit my other options. I’m not too crazy to find a retailer to ship LRS or to drive out of my way. Just trying to figure out next steps of quarantine if needed.

It could be salinity fluctuation, since I’m manually topping off as needed and doing water changes to keep 35ppt. I’ll revisit later with more info. Thanks for the starting point.

You can order through BRS and other retailers but in most cases comes with a $29.95 overnight shipping charge

Little embarassing but I have been feeding brine not mysis. Tried presoaked pellets tonight. Salinity is at 34ppt/1.025SG tonight. I couldn’t find LRS on BRS fyi lol. Really just wanted to read all those abbreviations, but seriously. Found another site though.

Thinking I had mysis, was intending to stop at LFS for brine and kanaplex but I forgot to get off that exit. I have neoplex but will actually get Kanaplex tomorrow. (I didn’t use Neo fyi so not mixing those meds).
