Hey guys, we had a bit of an issue yesterday. We set up our auto feeder and sadly the entire opening was open so they got a weeks worth of food dumped in and we didn’t realize it until we got home. Filter was jammed and water cloudy.

We cleaned the filter, did a full water change, and pulled our fish out while we did this into clean water. Got the tank refilled and to parameters. Unfortunately the stress was to much for our older multicolour angel and he passed overnight.

We have bonded clowns and the female this morning is showing odd behaviour, she swims a little then goes back to her bed and lays down, repeats this. Normally for her once she’s awake in the morning she keeps swimming around until nightfall.

Anyone able to help identify the problem here and what we can do?

Where she and her mate sleep at night, they’ve dug a little area in the sand out and sleep there every night. Under her is sand, a bit of lava rock and empty snail shells

Ok cool. I was thinking like a nem when you said bed. Hopefully they recover. Probably stressed from food OD, then moved to another tank, then 100% water change. Leave them alone and hope for the best.

They look ok in the pic. Water is cloudy. I wouldn't do anything else for a few days.
Thanks a ton, stressful as hell not being able to do anything. Really hope she pulls through as we were going to try breeding these two. Thanks for the advice!

Yeah we’re not sure why the water is cloudy, chemicals and salinity are all good but still cloudy for some reason

Clown fish are tough fish. They'll be ok.
So I just got back after picking something up, she’s now laying on the sand and just panting, this was the same behaviour the angel was doing last night before we lost him do you have any suggestions?

Update:

I called our local fish store as we have a good relationship with them, he recommended rechecking chem levels and all came back great, also recommended putting her in a separate tank to see how she does. I’ve done this she’s been in it for about an hour now and seems to be doing better and swimming around but going to leave her there for a bit longer to see how she does. This would tell me there’s something with my water but I can’t seem to figure out what and the rest of the fish are fine

Thoughts?
