Hey guys, CT question. This guy looked like a standard adult CT. Recently his tail has started gaining a pink color, which made me wonder if he is going through another color change. I have seen pictures of CT with pink accents on their fins, but just figured they were from a different region. Can anyone add insight about this?

Haha that knocked over zoa is his fault.

Anyway to move this to the general topic area? Predatory section does not seem to have a following.

Many if not most species will have color variations associated to the region of habitat. I have seen the pink accents on the clown trigger although I don't know the particulars as to why. What size is he/she; color variances are also sometimes attributed to sex, although I'm not sure this is in the case of the clown trigger. The lighting can also play a part, ati purple plus adds a pink/magenta hue, as well as leds with red, violet, and other colors in that spectrum being set to higher levels.

Found this picture on Google. Are you familiar with this color variation? I'm curious if something like this can develop with time or if it shows those color early on?

Would you suggest any other fish in a 40 Breeder with a Fuzzy and Zebra?

I would say likely photoshop'd, this looks very fake. I've seen very slight pinkish hues that likely wouldn't even photograph. I would suggest the lighting was picking up the slightest pigment and making it pop.

Interesting. In real life I've only seen standard colors with no pink. When my CT started picking up some pink wasn't sure what to expect. Was hoping the second picture I posted would be his end result, but it seems that will not be the case. Still a great fish. Appreciate your input. Will update with pictures if he continues to change.

Mine has a pink section of his tail from top to bottom. Sometimes it’s more prominent than others

Have pictures to share? On reefcentral found a blurb about all of these guys having parts of their fins turn pink with time.

I had a couple of clown triggers throughout the years and only one time keeping one, the tail started turning pink. Very cool. Sadly lost him in a vodka dosing accident
