Woke up this morning after I did water change last night and bigger clown was hiding under a rock instead of dancing with the smaller one like usual. Picked up rock to see if she was stuck. She came out and then went to a corner away from everyone else including other clown with tail curled to side and seemed to be having struggling breathing. Now she’s back to dancing with her partner it seems. I’m just paranoid because I lost my tomini in my other tank yesterday.

Was the salinity in your water change water the same? Do you use RO/DI? Struggling while trying to breath is what is standing out to me right now. Usually indicates a stressor... toxin possibly...

I don’t know. I don’t have a salinity checker. I think I’m just going to go back to mixing my own salt water. Never had fish problems then with my prior tanks. Thanks for bringing that up. I have designated 5 gallon buckets for “plain water” for condensation refills, and I have marked buckets for salt. I usually dip my finger in before to make sure it’s salt before I put in new for change. But I guess that doesn’t mean it’s the right salinity I suppose. Are you talking about a hydrometer or whatever (I can’t remember name of) for checking the salinity? Well as of right now the two are “dancing” again. Maybe they were just having a marital dispute

Yes, always check both the tank and mixed water salinity before a water change. Also check the tank salinity on a regular basis.

Get a Salinity Refractometer and get some calibration fluid with it also.
