I replied in the other thread also.

You are going to need a 3-way 2-position solenoid. Something like a MettleAir 3V310-10-DC24-1. This is what I have ordered. For the normally closed (ie when power is lost the valve closes). Port A to your skimmer pump. Port (P) is normally open and port (R) is normally closed.

The 24vdc off Apex is rated to 30w per port and the solenoid when energized uses 3w. So you should be more than fine.

So thinking normally closed would be CO2 scrubber, normally open is Fresh Air? That way if Solenoid fails it fails open.

Either way. Just depends which method you want to default to if the solenoid fails. Port R for that model solenoid is the normally closed position. So if you want intake air to default to the scrubber side than connect there, otherwise use port R as your fresh air port.

You have two options

1.) If Solenoid fails then intake air is drawn from fresh air.
Port A : Skimmer Pump Intake Air
Port P : Connect to Scrubber Inlet
Port R: No connection (drawing fresh air)

2.) If Solenoid fails then intake air is drawn from the scrubber
Port A: Skimmer Pump Intake Air
Port P: No connection (drawing fresh air)
Port R: Connect to Scrubber Inlet
 
Sounds like a good idea. I’ve been wanting to run a CO2 scrubber for a while but I’ve heard buying the media gets expensive. This would be a good way to make it last longer
