What's your optimum recommended conditions for acans ? How do you maximize their colors? Inputs appreciated

I'm not very experienced but I've seven acans (Ya I got a problem lol) I keep mine just up off the sand on the rocks. They're in low to moderate flow. I feed them frozen foods, shrimp, rods, and fauna marin lps grow+color medium pellets. They puff up like marshmallows and have deep colors. But honestly I think stable water parameters makes them happier then anything else[emoji6]

Good light, @150 PAR. Less flow, too much and they'll detach from skeleton. Feed 2-3 times a week for max growth, mysis or specialized food like Reef Frenzy. Make sure if you have fish that like to pick at corals you keep them well fed so they won't pick on the flesh. Acans don't recover well after damage, they don't like to grow over algae that will attach to exposed skeleton. I use KZ LPS Amino in my tank and have noticed much better growth with it. Awesome corals!

A slightly dirty tank and low to medium lighting is what has helped in my experience

+1

I agree so far with everyone-Im by no means an expert though lol

I run AI primes (40%) at 14.5k half the day and the other half for 18.5k. Mid/top of tank in medium flow. They get fed 1x per week with reef roids and 1x per week with calanus or reef frenzy.
IMO reef roids are THE single best food to revive a dying coral. Worked for 5 of mine-two acans.
If anyone has info on amino acid additions, put it in here!! Not many people know too much abut it :)

Wow, I was surprised at how much I didn't know, thanks fellows. Someone told me only run blue lights and feed once a week, wasn't sure how accurate that was.

HOW MUCH DOES A FISH’S FEEDING REQUIREMENTS AFFECT YOUR STOCKING DECISIONS?
