so i'm considering getting a fu manchu lionfish, but would like to know if it is compatible with this list of fish.
1.coral beauty angel
2.valentini puffer
3.green mandaarin
4.False Percula Clownfish
5.firefish red or purple
i have read that this lionfish grows about 4" which is the same size as 3/5 of these fish.
i have also read that they can eat anything 50% of their size and under.
any advise is appreciated. thanks in advance!:)

They can eat anything the size of their bodies minus fins, so most of your list could end up on their menu.

Agreed.
The coral beauty and puffer may be ok, but it will be a risk. The lion will grow faster than either species so they would have to be purchased already fully grown.
Fu Manchus are notoriously difficult to wean onto frozens foods also. As gorgeous as the fu Manchus are, a fuzzy dwarf is a much easier dwarf lion to keep long term. Eating tankmates is still a major issue though.
Good luck!

Do you have any ideas on what fish would be safe with it, but still be smallish? my mom is totally be up to doing the fu manchu, she had to get a blue ribbon eel to eat which is almost impossible. the reason i was considering the fu manchu was because, it was smaller than the fuzzy dwarf, which means better tankmate selection.

My Fuzzy Dwarf is about 5" and never bothers his tank mates (that I've noticed). My smallest fish is probably my talbot damsel (about 1") which he could easily eat. I feed him cut up silversides and krill.

My understanding is most any fish that will fit in its mouth will end up there. Don't think many small fish if any would make it.

The Marine Compatibility Guide

Best website ever, and EVERYONE should sign up and use it to give larger base for the recommendations on the bottom of the page.

Overall with lions anything that they can eat they will. They don't do well with roundheads, triggers , basslets, blennies, cardinals, chromis, gobies, hogfish, hawkfish...Filefish... Clownfish Draggonets... umm... That's all I can think of off the top of my head, but there is a good bunch that they down mix well with.

As always be safe and cautious when working with lions. Always (ALWAYS) know where they are, and let them know you are working in an area by TAPPING THEIR TAIL. And not other part of the fish. They are 40x faster than they let you know (watch them shedding their cutucile and you will notice this)!
