Scratching (also known as “flashing”) can be several things, such as flukes (which your 3-5 min. freshwater dip should reveal), Ick, or Velvet. They will eventually all irritate your fish, especially when the gills get fully targeted.

Read up a bit on the freshwater dip, but I just did a Wrasse, Dwarf Angel, Tang, Puffer, Longnose Hawk, and others— I used a air stone and periodically pulled it out to make sure the fish was still breathing (hard). Breathing hard for 3-5 minutes is OK. Not breathing = not good (lol)!

As to your other question, for something such as a burying Wrasse, you can place a small Tupperware bowl of sand in your QT tank, but it could get messy. I just make my Wrasse wedge in between PVC or a something else for a month—“too bad”— I’m trying to save your LIFE, Mr. Wrasse :)

Someone else will have to tell you whether the pods will survive copper; but know that “some” fish will lose the majority of their appetite while under copper.

Yeah, sorry it's not really a Blenny, it's a Dragonet.

Just FYI: Take any information regarding medications/treatment obtained from an aquarium company with a grain of salt. Their job is to sell you on their medications, by claiming that it works on anything & everything. :rolleyes:

@JumboShrimp General Cure is an excellent dewormer (in lieu of Prazipro), and erythromycin is a good antibiotic for eye infections (treats gram positive bacteria only). Ich-X contains formaldehyde so it would be useful (as a bath) for temporary relief of "surface" parasites and worms (e.g. velvet, brook, flukes).

+1 on Humblefish's list and the links provided to American Aquarium Products. The guys at AAP are great and very knowledgeable. Their entire business is to provide for healthy fish keeping. Fortunate that they are located in my small town here in Oregon. ;):D:cool:

For anyone following this thread or whoever will see it in the future-
It’s definitely Ick. Attempted a 4 minute and 20 second FW dip today and nothing fell off.
Because of the dragonet’s incompatibility with copper treatments, I plan on letting the Ick run it’s course in my tank. Most likely claiming the life of the sick clownfish, and crossing my fingers forever for the remaining only fish, the dragonet. Adding zero no fish for the life of the tank unless I can brainstorm a way to save the remaining dragonet and the established copepod population in the DT.
I have set up a QT, being another one of the hobbyist who learned the hard way that this is a NECESSITY not an option, but am letting it fully cycle and then run 24/7.
