Has anyone taken this? Im going to schedule it soon and wanted some input on it. I took a class in school that used the comptia book as the text and I have a lot of experience backing me. I also have the 7th edition book to study on.

I took it. But I went through a training class while at work. So we were basically given all the answers to all questions. But the test isn't that hard if your familiar with computers and the workings.

Im pretty familiar. When I was like 8 my old man brough home out first 286 machine and from then on when he would buy me a sound card or what have you he'd make me put it in with no insturction. Plus I've build systems, worked helpdesk, did small repair jobs for friends and family etc..., Ive worked with dos 6.22 all the wat to windows 7 including NT. Im 30 now so that tells you how long ago I was 8, lol. Just got tired of being a cook.

I took it years ago and as long as you know the book you should be good. Know the difference between the different expansion cards and know some high level network stuff.

FWIW, I have: A+, Network+, Security+, MCSA, MCDST, MCTS, MCITP, CCNA, CSSA, VCP 3 & 4, RCAS-AD, and will be working on my VCP 5 soon.

Have fun with it :)

I'm going to do like 6 chapters a day. So far I've been able to skim through. The trick is more being able to give them the answer they want than anything. Next I'll cash in my ccna vouchers. That one will be much harder since it's been a few years since i went through the net acad.

CompTia tests are straight forward...no trickery from what I remember. Now Microsoft's tests try to throw some tricks in there.

For CCNA, make sure you can do the work on a router, such as write ACLs. I took it just two years ago (so I'm current) and there are simulation questions on there like Microsoft has. You have to click on a console and start writing commands to accomplish what they want. And...make 100% sure you can answer subnet questions very quickly. They'll give you an IP and subnet, and ask you which of the following are valid/invalid IP addresses on the network.

Good luck man!!!

I'm a freaking subnetting master. We had to design a corporate network as a final for my Cisco 4 class and i did it all in my head. I still have access to the net acad website so i can get packet tracer to do the labs on. I just heard that Cisco likes to straight up try to trick you into putting in the wrong answer. Mostly ill just need to refresh all of my net acad books and Cisco has practice tests online and all sorts of free resources for alums. You probably still have access if you took the net acad classes. It's good forever.

its not as hard as the MS tests i passed it in the first try....I have my MCP in Windows NT. (workstation, server, enterprise and essentials) can i still get a job? LOL..
