Does anyone else really like Conchs!? Okay, I have a weird addiction to Conchs, mostly the particular species Strombus Alatus... The Florida Fighting Conch. I think they're adorable and they look like a critter straight out of Star Wars!!! This creature is ocean-dwelling and has a fricken TRUNK!!!! That combination is GENIUS. They also have a little harpoon to launch at prey or anything trying to mess with them... they're a predatory gastropod mollusk. Just that in itself is crazy cool. I have always wanted a Conch but never been able to find one for sale at a local shop and shipping one in for forty bucks plus the cost of the Conch itself is crazy. But still I dream of owning a conch.

Mine will travel several inches up the glass to graze on biofilm and do a good job moving sand around. Yeah, interesting to watch.

I wish I could find my conch he/she hides in the sad all the time. Amazing cleaner essential for my CuC, I keep kicking myself for not getting two of them. Love the pics in this post.

my 150 is a Tall, so the sand bed is 48" x 24".

I have always kept conch in my main display because I have sand and I love them. They will climb up the wall and then fall. I think I have around 8 in there right now. I consistently see 5.

I do not have the florida conch, but I do have 5 of the Tonga conch's (Strombus spp). They are pretty cool. And they are by far the hardiest invert I have ever owned. I had an accidental copper in my tank that wiped out my whole clean up crew EXCEPT for the conch. Back then I only had one, but after I got everything fixed I bought 4 more.

So, today I went to my local reef shop Schell’s Reef (Amazing dude, amazing prices, definitely recommend it for anyone in West Georgia) and he had Florida Fighting Conchs (Strombus Alatus)!!!! So NOW I HAVE ONE and I can join the Conch Club XD her name is Kimmy and she is incredible.
By the way... it is normal for them to be a bit shy at first right? She’s not moving or anything she’s just occasionally looking around and chewing some algae under her shell. She’s so cool and I’m dying.

IMO they are more nocturnal then anything.

I want another one, mine came in DOA. I thought it was "shocked" since it wasn't moving and it didn't smell but later that day the cycle of life said otherwise...

So, it’s the morning after introducing the conch and she still hasn’t moved. Should I be worried? Or should I move her under an archway or something? She’s looking around so she seems okay... I might be overreacting but I just really want her to be comfortable

I'd leave it alone as it is probably acclimating to new environment.
