Hi. I last had a tank 16 years ago. I had fowlr for ten years until i had a heat problem(that i never figured out). I am about to start a reef tank. I've been reading and trying to learn as much as possible. Reef2reef has been an invaluable resource. i would like to have a minimalist reef with predominantly zoanthids, followed by lps and a few soft coral. I am pretty sure what i want for equipment except for lights. What lights would suit my purpose better orphek leds or reefbrite metal halides with leds or are both lights overkill. Thanks in advance.

Well since you are not keeping any SPS I would suggest the LED's . I have the Reefbrite and I love them but I keep a predominantly SPS tank.
LPS and zoa's and soft corals are not as picky with lighting as SPS. Thou the reefbrite is not expensive as most high end LED systems you could go that route. You could also use T5's
