I been going back and forth on getting a controller. The reason I personally want one is to have control over certain parts of my tank via my phone also to have accurate timers that auto set after power outage. From talking to many different experts most don't like a full out controller to control every part of the tank due to obvious reasons. So after lots of thought I found another product which is super simple to setup!! I wanted your thoughts on this?

I recommend you to check ReefAngel controller. It's more money but you gonna get a full and real aquarium controller.

I like the idea, and the cost. But, consider you only have on/off function.

Some of the best functions of a controller are tied to temperature awareness, or pH, or water level...

For another $40 you can get into a basic ReefKeeper package with ability to run a net module if you wanna.

I think Reef Angel and Apex both have a higher price-point, but both come with more integrated features - like network connectivity - too.

If on-off is all you need though, then it sounds like the NetWerx device may be the ticket. :) Do it's timers give you to-the-minute or -second control, btw?

I'm not quite sure what obvious reasons there would be to select this over a controller. If your having it control something, your having it control something, it's just that simple.

Even for just on/off functions. And before I purchased something like this, that I had to get into a monthly payment plan, I would buy a controller (full blown) and be done with it.

For the price and what it does, not really worth it imho..

I would second the RKL recommendation, or even better is an Apex (Jr., Lite, or full, depending on your needs) or Reef Angel if you can swing it.
