I am looking to using/replace the return pump with a Tunze 1073.008 pump in my 25 Gallon AIO since my OEM died.

The return tubing is a 1/2 inch so I can only use a 1073.008 - my question is can I use the same DC control ability as a 1073.050 ? as shown in the product manual below? I cannot use a 1073.050 because it is a serious overkill and if come with 3/4 NPT hose connections

You could get a cobalt MJ1200? The 1073.008 is nice, why not just replace it?

I as using a cobolt 600 and it just dies today. Also did not understand -- 'why not just replace it' replace what?

The 1073.050 has a physical electronic knob for you to turn down the power provided to the pump or you can use vsp port to control its output....If you have a reducer from 3/4 to 1/2 then it works. However, the pump physically is bigger than the .008 model if I am not mistaken. The .050 is still a very small pump compared to its competitive counter pumps like Eihem.

Yes, the 1073.008 is an AC pump, while we had plans years ago to make a DC model, we felt the market for a pump this low flow at a nearly $150 price point was virtually non existent. The 1073.050 is the only DC model that is controllable.
