What are the most common practices for controlling your PH manually or with a controller like an APEX or a Reefkeeper Elite?
I am a 2-Part doser which I have set up with timers and works well.

Manually is near impossible. A simple pH controller is a necessity when using a calcium reactor or you can be as complex as a full controller like the Apex or RKE. Controlling the pH of the aquarium is a fools errand.

I agree with the 2 previous posts.....but it's always nice to know exactly what is going on....I have one for my calcium reactor pH too.

PH will go down at night and up during the day. so if you dose alk mostly at night you would be better off but if you can dose a little alk all day long the PH will be more stable but it will go up and down a little.

I do nothing to control my pH.

But I do balance out the tank with plant life. which results in a high pH just before lights out.

If you have a low pH just before lights I consider that a synptom of excess carbon dioxide and take actions to correct the carbon dioxide.
