Im going to dust off my old 150w fixture and I'd like to convert it to a 250w. I have a 250w electronic ballast. What can I do to the fixture to make it compatible/safe?

All you should have to do is properly install the ballast and put your bulb in.

Sorry if this is a stupid question but will the new hqi bulb fit? For some reason I thought it needed a different socket?

If your old 150watt is an hqi, it should work. if not, you will need a new socket. i think reefgeek sells them for reasonably cheap.

i thought you had too change the sockets out if it's DE too. i think someone advised that too me when i was thinking about changing my fixture over. i never got around too doing so. i just went pendents. i know if it's SE you need a new socket for the bulbs

Yes I'm going from a 150w DE to a 250w DE. I would really like to hear if someone has done this. I dont want to cause a fire or ruin a bulb.
