Copper band refusing to accept food

LFS confirmed it was eating and no signs of any disease, apon adding to tank the copperband instantly started grazing on the liverock and still is grazing but wont eat flakes or nori.

What was LFS feeding it? Some fish take a few days to acclimate before they will eat in a new environment.

Copper band prefer frozen mysis and frozen cyclops (maybe pellets). That's what I got it to eat for me. I never see it eat nori or flakes.

I've never seen a copperband eat flakes or nori. I'm sure they exist though.

Getting a copperband to eat is a common challenge. Many people have to start with live foods like live brine shrimp and/or live white or black worms and then try to transition them to frozen foods like fozen mysis. Some have siccess feeding them clams on a half shell. You have to try a lot of thigs, otherwise the copperband will starve.

Best thing will be first to ask the LFS what it was eating. It's always good to SEE it eat at the LFS first if you can.

I would buy a selection of frozen foods and start trying those. Is the copperband timid kr will it come up to the glass when you are there?

My copperband eats well, but it ONLY eats directly from my feeder pipette one piece of mysis or one worm at a time. Of they come out into the water column, they just float away ignored. She has to grab it out of the tip of the pipette.

Challenging, but a worthy fish!

I had one that only lasted 3 months because it would only pick at the rocks and nothing else. My current one loves frozen blood worms and mysis. I got it eating with live black worms and manilla clams

See comment above. Answer is probably, unless it is in a huge tank without competition. Monitor its stomach size.

Frozen mysis should work but the copperband I had for many years started on frozen blood worms.

Absolutely call the LFS and ask. Worms are the best bet; mysis 2nd. Tons here on them if you search.

I don’t think I’ve ever had one that would eat anything but frozen. Would love to get them on pellets but they never seem interested

Copperband was added 3 days ago but it sometimes swims away and gets spooked when i come up to the glass.

Try manilla clams from a seafood store. Reefdudes said he and all his friends have had 100% success with that. It's also worked for me as well. Just toss the frozen clam right in and as it defrosts, it'll start to open and it can get it's beak in there to start picking at it.

Nah, the fox face shouldn’t eat coral because of that
