Hey guys,

Just wanted your thoughts on Coral Collection / Mak Corals. I ordered one medium CC Green Grape anemone from coralcollection.bigcartel.com. I assumed they were legit since there was so much lineage to their corals.

Last week they never shipped the anemone, and I reached out to them multiple times, but they never responded. Finally I reached out to Mak Corals since, after doing a lot of research, they seem to be fulfilling all Coral Collection orders now because they've bought all the livestock.

I finally got a response, but the excuse was they shipped the anemone to a different person by mistake (I find that kind of strange and hard to believe, but OK).

It was a bit weird that this was the case. Also Mak Corals indicates a cheaper ($30) shipping price to California addresses, but they had charged me $50. So they also said they'd refund me the difference, which has not happened yet.

We agreed to send again this week, any day, so I elected Tuesday (tomorrow), but still at this point, I have received no tracking number nor response.

Have you guys dealt with them before? Maybe it's just a strange one-off problem, but just wanted to check just in case I'm getting screwed over here.

I've visited Mark's store in San Bernardino numerous times (MAK Corals) and he has always been pretty honest and fair with our transactions. Last I spoke to Mark, my understanding was that he and the co-owner of Coral Collection parted ways and he went into his own venture. So unless that has changed recently, then Mark has nothing to do with Coral Collection anymore.

Finally I reached out to Mak Corals since, after doing a lot of research, they seem to be fulfilling all Coral Collection orders now because they've bought all the livestock.

Can you elaborate on your research/sources? Coral Collection has had issues fulfilling orders in the past. That is indeed documented across forums. Maybe you're not actually communicating with Mark from Mak Corals after all? I'll shoot him a text and point him to this thread.

Talked to Mark (@MAKcorals) via phone. I think it would be good for someone other than him to explain it, but MAKcorals isn't Coral Collection. They're just trying to fulfill Coral Collection orders now.

He's not bad intentioned, and I just got a full refund for my order. The communication once I have him on the phone is fine, but otherwise he never notified me that things were not going to be fulfilled afterall. There's probably a lot of problems with trying to fulfill coral collection orders and his own. I'm not happy at all that I wasted two days waiting for a promised anemone order.

This was a bad experience. Maybe others have had good ones. His storefront is probably fine. My suggestion to him would be to get his online and shipping logistics figured out before trying to fulfill anymore orders. For those looking to purchase, I wouldn't recommend it. Sorry, just can't say I would try purchasing again after this experience.
