Coral growing under another!

I bought a nice ricordia off a friend and the it's base is attached to 2 small rocks and on one of the rocks there is two small mushrooms growing! During the day the ricordia expands and the mushrooms get no light! When it closes during the night you can see them! I want to seperate the two so the mushrooms grow but I don't know how to go on getting them detached! Any ideas?

That is normal and if left alone it will be fine. I am assuming it is a YUMA opposed to a Florida Ricordea. Yuma move along the rock leaving a small piece from it's foot behind that grow's into a baby Ricordea. At some point it will move enough to uncover the baby. Floridia on the other hand don't split into smaller babies that is why you rarely see small florida ricordea. Once they grow extra mouths and become large they split in half's or thirds or more but typically equal part (sizes)

Disregard my response I didn't read your post close enough. I see now it is a different coral underneath the ricordea.

You can remove the mushroom using bone cutters. Cut the rock underneath the mushroom leaving the mushroom attached to the rock. It is similar to using pliers but they are sharp and break small pieces of the rock. Most reef rock is brittle and breaks very easy.

Yeah it's a mushroom on the rock under the ricordia. I got it from a friend abd he has a bunch of mushrooms in his tank and there's a small one on this rock
