This was sold to me as a John Deer Cyphastrea but I am doubtful. When the polys are retracted the are recessed into the flesh of the coral instead of pronouced from the base like most Cyphastrea I have seen before.

Thanks in advance.

It's an LPS, not an SPS, and I agree that it's not a cyphastrea.
Possibly a lepto?
Can you post a pic under whites? (It's beautiful under blues but might help with ID :) )

I will snag a good pic tomorrow when the lights come back on. And sorry for putting it in the wrong forum ;)

No worries, just wanted to help clarify the ID :). If you were searching for SPS corals that look like yours, you might have been on the wrong track

Looks similar to the spit fire lepastrea on Tidal Gardens site.

Very nice coral.
Thanks. I went to the shop to pick up a meteor shower cyphastrea to put on the back wall of my tank but this one jumped out at me so it came home instead that day. I will grab the meteor shower eventually.

Are you in Dayton, Texas? Or Dayton Ohio?
I'll trade you for some cyphastrea if you're in Tx, lol

Saw something like this at recent MACNA and I believed they called it Ultra Aussie Lepastrea
