Coral Placement Advice.

Good morning all.
I need some advice/suggestions. I have 3 button Scolys one Bleeding Apple Scoly and two large Acans on my sand bed. The problem is that my Bella Goby, doing what he normally does, dumps sand on them constantly. I get to them pretty quickly and blow the sand off with my turkey baster but he just goes right back to it. Has anyone ever used those magnetic frag hangers I’ve seen from printed reef? My tank is really crowded so I don’t have a ton of empty space on the bed. I love my Bella Goby and the corals are really doing well despite being “sanded” every day. Oh and my pistol shrimp contributes to the chaos by digging under the corals and knocking them over. Any ideas?

Also have a Bella, corals on sandbed is not an option for me. I’ve put them on their own rock island lifted and angled towards the front of the glass. I’ve also glued some frags to barnacles in my tank

DON’T GIVE UP!!!! Check out the Printed Reef website and check out the magnetic frag hangers. I ordered one to test them out. Maybe they could be an option for you.

Thanks for that recommendation! Just to be clear, I didn’t mean reefing. I was just referring to battling with my goby (who I love despite it all!).

I knew what you meant. I was just saying don’t give up on the diamond goby. They have tons of personality. You just need to work around him so everyone’s happy.

I have conches, Nassarius Snails, Pitho crabs, Sea Cucumbers and Blue Porcelain Crabs to work on the sand. I bought the Bella for his colors. Unfortunately I got the bonus package with the sand sifting. lol.

Great fish imo mine even pecks at algae on rocks. Even occasionally swims in the mid column. Definitely annoying with the sand hills. A diamond goby stays more on the sandbed and doesn’t get sand all over, but the Bella’s colors are unmatched. Worth the headache

I've had the best luck with them lower in the tank with very low flow (helps items in the water column land for feeding naturally). I also had a sand sifting goby that was a literal nightmare to anything on the sand bed. unless you feel like basting the sand off of them constantly, I'd look into propping them up on some sort of stand or finding lower rock work to put them on.
