could water flow been my problem?

About 2 weeks ago i change some coral around in my tank one of the ones that i moved was a sps that i have had for about a yr now. The coral was in the top part of my tank right in the center of the flow. For a year now the coral has had great polyp extension and always looked good.
I moved the coral to a spot about the same height in the tank but with alot less flow within a few days i noticed it wasnt polyped out as much but i thought it was just that way from being moved, With in a few days it started losing tissue and polyps, now the thing is about completly dead what color tissue is left is just falling off.
I moved it back to the high flow but i feel like it is to late my question is can flow make that much difference in just a couple weeks

I almost killed a large birdsnest colony by moving it out of the proper flow. I had to move it back in order to get it to respond and start growing again.

So yes I believe it can kill a coral ina matter of weeks easily.

It could have been the flow some require just a ton of it to be happy. Wehn you moved it was it maybe put more directly under the lights and maybe too much light?

Now knowing flow can do that this quick makes me nervous i have a few nice ones like a ora red planet that i had moved the same time as this one iam going to really look it over today hopefully no damage to it.
Its hard to have sps and lps in the same 65g tank sps, when i put the flow on the sps the lps is getting to much flow.
