Caught the sump crab, I narrowed it down to a type of spider crab but it gets tricky narrowing it down the deeper you dig.
I have no aiptasia left in my sump refugium, added two just to see what happens! :)

With skills like aiptasia eating that is a valuable crab. Any reason it was banished to the sump? Has it shown not to be trustworthy?

It came to my lfs from the wholesaler free to go in a sump as no one knew what it was, I took it, I wrote the name down of what i narrowed it down to and lost the post it note!

The thing in the center is a decorator crab

Crab overload!!

I wouldn’t have know that the decorator crab was in the pic if you didn’t say that’s what it was. I’d say it’s camouflaged really well. Is it polyps that it has adorned itself with?

Thank you! I was told just a “large anemone crab” Did some more research, seems like the nems are for defense and since the crab eats kinda sloppy, they get pieces of fish etc that he picks up. Also read when they change shells, they’re able to “tap” on the nems in a way that makes them release so he can take them with him
