Hello all!! Welcome to Cthulhu’s Reef!
I’m Dan, I’ve been in the hobby for 6 years. A member of R2R for a couple. I’ve always been shy about sharing my tank, but the community interaction here is just amazing!
So here it is!!

The Tank
Been running for almost a year. November 1st...
125 gal reef tank. Bare bottom.
Mostly SPS, but a mixed reef. 40 gal breeder sump and a 40 gal tote I made into a refugium. I figure about 130-140 gals total volume.

For Flow- I run 2-Ecotech S1’s at 50% for my return pumps. “One of the overflow pipes goes to the sump and the other to the refugium”. For Flow I’m running 1- MP 40, and 2 of the bigger Ice Cap Gyre’s for glow. “Would like to add an MP-40 on opposing end of the existing..”

Lighting- Here’s my Frankenstein lighting info.
Left side of tank has a Radion XR30 Gen 3 Pro, middle has a XR 15 Gen 4 Pro, Right side has Chinese black box. Above all of the led’s I have an 8 bulb 48” T5 fixture.
“The middle and right side have lower PAR values due to the lights, so I supplement with the T5’s”. I find the LED have to much shading to use exclusively. I know it Frankenstein.... LOL!!

Filtration- 40 breeder has 2 filter socks, a Vertex Omega 150, and BRS dual reactor for carbon/GFO. I run filter floss or poly-filter in the first chamber of the bubble trap before the return section.

Refugium has a decent mass of cheato and recently, I recently planted 5 mangroves from Algaebarn. I Made a pot out of the bottom of a NSF bucket. Filled with miracle mud and some Two Little Fishes refugia substrate. Planted the mangroves in the “pot” and placed pot in refugium to keep the substrate out of the aquarium “For the most part”. A cheap Wal-Mary grow light for the lighting... “ I Know, I know... but honestly... it works!!!”

Fish Livestock- 1-Hippo Tang, 2 Yellow Tangs, Dejardini Sailfin, 2 clowns, 6 line wrasse, 2 Bangai Cardinals, lawnmower Blenny, a few filefish and green Mandarin dragonet.
As far as coral, there is a bunch in there, I have a list I can also post. Mostly sps, 3-4 different Montis, 3-4 different Milli’s, bunch of acros. Most pieces from Battlecorals, Aqua SD, World wife Corals, A few Jason Fox, and some from local fish stores.
Kung Pao Monti definitely the prize of the tank. “He’s a new addition” lol!!

Anyways.. here are some pictures. Thank you for reading, and welcome the Cthulhu’s Reef.
