So the time has come I think to begin adding a bit to my new build. Water chemistry has stabilized and a single fish has been added to the tank. Check out my 120 gallon glass Cages build thread over in Member Tanks.
A couple of small fish are currently in quarantine and will be added after going thru a copper treatment for a couple of weeks. Second treatment of Prazipro ends tomorrow.
Im thinking of stocking the refugium portion of my sump with a couple of macro species. Cheeto, gracilaria, etc in small amounts keep the inevitable nutrient spike if something has an untimely death. A bottle or two of pods will also go into the refugium and the main display to increase diversity.
A small but very diverse cleanup crew can also be added to the main display at this time. Lighting won’t start on the main display for a month at least but I’m hoping there is enough food available in the tank to support a small community of CUC primarily snails. I can always add a bit more fish food to tide them over until algae starts growing steadily. Probably no hermit crabs as I don’t want them wiping out the snails before the community stabilizes. Maybe no hermits ever as I have had some bad experiences with them and opinions seem a bit low on them here on R2R.
I guess I am just lookin for an assessment of my plan and it’s timing. too soon? Full steam ahead? No hermits? Definitely hermits?
